Trial of Sheikh Hasina and others
Court 1 Case no 2/2025 Trial Day 22 24th Sept 2025 Back to Trial page
Witness 53: Tanvir Hasan Zoha
Evidence given by Tanvir Hasan Zoha.
I am a Prosecutor at the International Crimes Tribunal and also the Special Investigating Officer (SIO) in this case.
During the investigation, I began collecting various audio clips, video footage, call detail records (CDR), IP data, CCTV footage, and other digital evidence from the relevant offices, including BTRC and NTMC.
As part of this process, on 23-12-2024, I seized sixty-nine (69) audio clips of phone conversations belonging to former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, along with CDRs of three mobile numbers, in accordance with legal procedures and in the presence of NTMC Assistant Engineer and Trainer Sadi Mohammad Rifat.
Subsequently, I started reviewing the collected audio clips on 24-12-2024.
During this review, I identified a phone conversation between former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Fazle Noor Taposh. The conversation was video-recorded. Their authentic voice samples were collected and sent for examination to the Forensic Division of the CID, Dhaka.
At the beginning of the call, conversations between the accused and another individual could be heard, and at the end, another male voice was audible.
On 16-01-2025, Inspector Rokonuzzaman confirmed through examination that the voices in the audio clip were those of Sheikh Hasina and Fazle Noor Taposh.
I then submitted this forensic opinion to the Chief Coordinator of the Investigation Agency.
While continuing the review, I identified another phone conversation between Sheikh Hasina and the then Vice-Chancellor of the University of Dhaka, Professor S.M. Maksud Kamal. I preserved this conversation on a CD disk and submitted it to the Chief Coordinator. A copy of their authenticated voice samples was also sent to the CID Forensic Laboratory, Dhaka, for verification.
Sub-Inspector (SI) Shahed Jubayer Lawrence provided his examination report and opinion, stating that the voices in that recording were indeed those of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Vice-Chancellor S.M. Maksud Kamal.
I handed this forensic opinion over to the Chief Coordinator as well.
While the review of the audios continued, I further identified three phone conversations between Hasanul Haq Inu and Sheikh Hasina.
These were preserved on a video disk and submitted to the Chief Coordinator.
SI Shahed Jubayer Lawrence again submitted his forensic report confirming that the voices in those conversations belonged to Sheikh Hasina and Hasanul Haq Inu.
Upon analysis, it was found that in July–August 2024, Sheikh Hasina gave direct orders to open fire on the anti-discrimination student movement as well as to conduct bombings using drones and helicopters, shut down internet services, and to label the student protesters as “Razakars” and call for their execution.
In those phone conversations, they also referred to the example of England for suppressing student protests.
The combined set of these five audio conversations was compiled into three CDs, which I now submit before this Honorable Tribunal as exhibits:
CD containing the conversation between Sheikh Hasina and Hasanul Haq Inu — Exhibit-XXxI
CD containing the conversation between Sheikh Hasina and Fazle Noor Taposh — Exhibit-XXIX
CD containing the conversation between Sheikh Hasina and S.M. Maksud Kamal — Exhibit-XXx
