I am working as an SI (unarmed) in the Operation Division, Crime Command and Control Center of DMP Dhaka, as a Wireless Operator.

I was working in the same post, in the same place, on 17/07/2024. My duty was from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM that day.

Between approximately 11:00 AM and 11:30 AM, the then Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner Harunur Rashid, whose coded call signal was Victor Mike-1 maximum 1, instructed the use of force and instructed to shoot with Chinese rifles to suppress the student public movement.

As a messenger, I and my team conveyed the said message to all relevant units of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police via wireless.

The Investigating Officer played an audio of this message for me, where the voices of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner Harunur Rashid and my and others’ message exchange can be heard.

The audio was played in court. (The witness’s described conversation is heard in the audio) This is that pen drive containing the audio (Material Exhibit- XXVIII).

The Investigating Officer has questioned me.

Cross-examination

According to my description, I did not bring any documents related to performing duty at the described place and time.

It is not true that I was not on duty at the described place and time on 17/07/2025.

It is not true that the conversation in the audio was unclear or incomprehensible.

It is not true that the Police Commissioner legally instructed to shoot.

It is not true that the Police Commissioner gave us lawful instructions. No such situation was created at that time.

It is not true that the Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner instructed the use of force or shooting only if such a situation arose.

It is not true that I gave testimony without understanding the purport of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner’s instruction.

It is not true that the Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner instructed to shoot for self-defense.
