Testimony of Md. Rokunuzzaman

My name is MD. Rukunuzzaman, and I am 43 years old. My father’s name is xxx and my mother’s name is xxx. My address is XXX District Kishoreganj. Currently, I am working as a Police Inspector in the Digital Forensic Lab of CID, Dhaka. On January 15, 2025, Special Investigating Officer Mr. Tanvir Hasan Joha submitted a DVD containing an audio clip with a conversation and another hard drive with audio-visuals of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Fazle Noor Taposh for forensic examination. I received both items along with a challan, examined them, and provided my opinion on the matter as requested by the investigating officer. During the examination, the female voice in the audio file on the DVD matched the authentic voice of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, which was stored on the other hard drive. Similarly, the male voice in the same audio file on the DVD matched the authentic voice of Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh, which was also on the hard drive. I have attached a written transcript of the conversation from the audio file on the DVD with my report as an annexure.

This is the challan through which I received the aforementioned items. My signature is on the receipt acknowledging the items. This challan is marked as Exhibit-18 and my signature on it is marked as Exhibit-18A. This is my two-page forensic report which is marked as Exhibit 19 and my signature on it is marked as Exhibit 19A. My forensic report, including the ten-page annexure with the transcript (pages 369 to 378), has my signature on every page of the annexure, which is marked as Exhibit 20 (series).

These items were previously exhibited as material exhibit-V. On January 16, 2025, the Special Investigating Officer and the prosecutor Mr. Tanvir Hasan Joha took the report and the items with the annexure. The investigating officer interrogated me, and this is my Deposition.

I transcribed and composed the document myself. I conducted the forensic examination of the evidence alone. My findings, along with the transcription, were presented to the tribunal. All my work was documented on a note sheet and subsequently reviewed by senior officers. Specifically, the officer who assigned and approved the work, I cannot recall his name.
