Trial of the killing of Abu Sayed
This trial is taking place in court no 2 of the the International Crimes Tribunal and is case no 1/2025 of that court. The Tribunal judges are:

The trial involves the killing on 16 July of Abu Sayeed, a student from Begum Rokeya University in Rangpur, which is where the shooting took place. He was the first, or one of the first feew people, to die during the protests.
The Accused
The trial involves the prosecution of 30 men, all accused of the offence of crimes against humanity.
24 of the accused are fugitives (resulting in their trial taking place in absentia, with court appointed lawyers) and 6 of them are in the dock.
In addition to the police officers alleged to have shot Abu Sayed dead (nos 8, 9), there are:
– other more senior police officers including Rangpur’s police commissioner (nos 2-7);
– University administrators including the vice-chancellor (nos 1, 10, 13-15)
– academics at the university (nos 11,12)
– employees at the university, including a security guard (nos 25-29)
– leaders of the Awami League student wing at the university (nos16-24)
